Healthy Nutrition Tips For Losing Weight & Burning Fat
Healthy nutrition tips can be complicated. There are a lot of different approaches that can get results when it comes to stripping away body fat, especially over the short term, such as intermittent fasting, or macro nutrient cycling. But not everyone has the time or the desire to follow such programs and they aren’t always practical or even balanced when it comes to your health and well being.
So with these healthy nutrition tips for weight loss we are going to focus on the simple dieting basics for every day eating that can bring about great results when combined with the fitness and exercise tips on this site. When you want to accelerate your results and really go all out for a short period of time every once in awhile, you can change things up to do something like intermittent fasting. This can come in handy when you have an event, such as a wedding or reunion, coming up.
But most of the time, you’re better off following some simple and good nutrition tips and strategies that you can integrate more easily into your daily routine.
You Must Eat More Protein
Most people don’t get enough high quality protein in their diets from sources like lean beef, tuna, chicken, eggs, cottage cheese and a variety of beans. Protein is not only the building blocks of lean muscle tissue, but it also boosts your metabolism, which helps you to burn more calories, thus burning more body fat. Eating protein burns more calories than eating carbohydrates.
You also want to increase your intake of essential fatty acids. One of the biggest mistakes of the weight loss nutrition hype of the 1980’s was the whole “low fat” craze. Very, very bad idea. Fats are an essential part of good health and going too low can cause a whole host of health related problems. Most people don’t get nearly enough essential fatty acids in their diet and most of those that do have a severely unbalanced fatty acid intake, due to the modern Western diet. Most people have take in too much Omega 6 and not nearly enough Omega 3. Be sure and get your Omega 3, while also getting fats in your diet from sources such as eggs.
You’ll need to greatly increase your fiber intake. Like the essential fatty acids, the average American doesn’t get enough fiber, taking in only about 9 grams per day when you should be getting 25 or more grams. Fiber has a lot of health benefits and it also helps to boost your metabolism and burn body fat. You can increase your fiber by getting a lot more fruits and taking a good fiber supplement.
Limit Your Carbohydrates
We’re not saying to implement the Atkins diet but when it comes to the macro-nutrients, carbohydrates are the only ones without a minimum requirement. You must take in protein and fats to survive, not true with carbohydrates. Make sure you get enough protein and fats. Then, adjust your carbohydrate intake based on your goals and results. Want to add some lean muscle? Increase your carbohydrate intake. Want to shed some fat? Slowly lower your carbohydrate intake and track your results.
Get Lots of Color In Your Diet
This means lots of fruits and vegetables with lots of color blues, greens, reds and yellows. Eat them. A lot!
Eliminate Processed Foods
Go back to basics and nature. Stop eating stuff out of boxes and bags that are full of harmful chemicals. It’s not just healthier but it will help keep your hormone levels out of balance, making it easier to shed body fat.
Drink Green Tea & Water
Be sure, that you drink green tea as well as enough water. Besides the health benefits, green tea is one of the few “supplements” around that has truly been scientifically proven to boost your metabolism so that you are burning more calories every single day.
